Highland senior Chelsey Lampe officially signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids on Monday afternoon.
Lampe has familiarity with the school, as her sister, Becca Lampe, also attended the university.
?I really like it,? Chelsey said. ?My sister went there, so I kind of got a preview of what it was like. I liked the program and (the coaching staff). I also liked the size, it?s not too big and not too small.?
Lampe was a second-team All-State selection by the Iowa Girls? Coaches Association this season, after leading the Huskies to a 15-8 record.
Lampe led her team in points per game (12.1), steals (110), assists (100) and rebounds per game (8.2), while also finishing second on the team in blocks with 27.
She thinks her knowledge of the game makes her a good fit for the team.
?It?s going to be a new position for me, so I?ll have a lot to learn,? Lampe said. ?It?ll be fun.?
