Larsen victories help Trojans to 3rd-place finish

KEOKUK - Fairfield's girls swim team was edged out of second place by the host Keokuk Chiefs Tuesday in a four-team meet. Burlington won the meet with 146 points while Keokuk was with 69, six points better than the Trojans' 63 and Centerville had seven.
Willow Larsen recorded a pair of individual wins for the Trojans, taking the 50-yard free race with a time of 26.67 seconds and the 100 back in 1 minute, 1.12 seconds. Trojan teammate Emma Sanner was seventh in the free at 37.05 and Lily Huff ninth at 38.65. Anna Westphal was fifth in the 100 back at 1:36.22 and Huff seventh in 1:44.15.
Fairfield was second and fifth in the 400 yard free relay with Westphal, Grace Sobaski, Claire Else, and Larsen finishing in 4:46.83 and Sanner, Viola Welsh, Huff and Ella Weigert finishing at 5:42.30. The 200 medley was fourth in 2:29.83 with Westphal, Larsen, Sobaski and Fairfield placed second, fourth, fifth in the 200 free with Sobaski at 2:37.32, Weigert at 2:45.55, and Westphal 2:45.83.
Else was third in the 200 IM at 3:03.65.
Sobaski's time of 1:27.87 was third in the 100 breast while Else's 1:27.91 was fourth and Welsh's 1:37.67 was seventh.
The 200 free relay was fourth behind Sanner, Welsh, Huff, Weigert in 2:27.39.
Welsh (1:20.44) was seventh, Weigert (1:20.67) eighth and Sanner (1:24.80) ninth in the 100 free.
