WASHINGTON — The girls soccer team at Washington hosted a school with a much larger enrollment in an Iowa City Liberty team Thursday and lost 8-1.
“It was a tough match up,” Washington coach Steven Caulk said. “Their speed, skill, and numbers proved too difficult for us to overcome.”
Alex Murphy made “numerous saves’ for Washington in the nonconference matchup.
Liberty improved to a record of 9-4. Washington travels for two games this week then gets a home match Friday against Columbus.
The Demons have a record of 6-5 and go to Centerville (7-6) Tuesday. A trip to Wellman to face Mid-Prairie (9-5) is slated for Thursday.
