IMS twice pulled within one run of rival Lone Tree in Thursday night?s Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division softball game, but the Lions held off IMS for a 12-5 win.
Lone Tree (1-1, 1-1 SEISC North) scored three runs in the top of the second inning, but IMS answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame. The Lions added a run in the third inning and two in the fifth, but IMS came back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 6-5. But Lone Tree scored four runs in the sixth inning and two in the seventh to win 12-5.
Senior Laura Hochstetler had three hits to lead IMS (1-2, 1-2 SEISC North), while senior Keilah Brokaw, junior Casey Perez and sophomore Stasia Majerick each had a pair of hits. Majerick drove in a pair of runs, while Brokaw, Perez and senior Naomi Miller each added an RBI. Hochstetler struck out seven Lone Tree batters, but gave up 16 hits.
