Local runner places 18th at weekend race
MARION ? Peter Mannisi of Fairfield finished 18th out of 316 runners in the 12th annual Freezefest 5K Saturday at Squaw Creek Park in Marion.
Mannisi, the coach of the Fairfield Resident and M.U.M. Running Club, finished in a time of 19:29. The clocking was enough to win the 65-69 age group and also finish ahead of the top runners in the 55-59 and 60-64 age groups.

MARION ? Peter Mannisi of Fairfield finished 18th out of 316 runners in the 12th annual Freezefest 5K Saturday at Squaw Creek Park in Marion.
Mannisi, the coach of the Fairfield Resident and M.U.M. Running Club, finished in a time of 19:29. The clocking was enough to win the 65-69 age group and also finish ahead of the top runners in the 55-59 and 60-64 age groups.
Nate Hopp, 29, of West Amana won the race in 15:25. The Freezefest is sponsored by the Cedar Valley Running Association.
M.U.M. running club member Million Elala is currently organizing a team to run in the Run Across Iowa relay race to be held June 8-June 10. Each team may have up to 12 members and will run the 340-mile course as a relay across Iowa. If any local runners are interested in participating, contact Elala at almazmil@yahoo.com.
