Local soccer team repeats at Osky tournament

OSKALOOSA ? The Fairfield Area Soccer Association?s U14 team became champions for the fourth straight year at the season-ending tournament in Oskaloosa Saturday.
The local team won three straight contests to make the championship game vs. the Johnston Inferno, which it topped for the title 3-1.
?It was a very good and competitive game, but Fairfield defended their title for the fourth time in a row with a convincing 3-1 win,? said head coach Felisto Guezimane. ?Overall, the whole team played very well and deserved to be champions.?
Fairfield?s U14 team reached the finals with dominant wins over Ottumwa (6-0) and Washington (8-0) in the opening rounds. It beat Mount Pleasant 4-1 in the semifinal game.
Fairfield had goals scored by several players throughout the tournament, including Kai Vessey, Brayden Miller, Cheysten Titus, Eric Swan, Jordan Guezimane, Kolten Webber and Shawn Spurrier.
Its defense was led by Webber, Aman Charles, Shannon Morrissey and goalkeeper Andrew Wilson.
