Playing its third game in four days, the Mt. Pleasant girls' soccer team picked up its fourth win of the season on Thursday, April 14, at Keokuk, 3-1.
Florencia Leunis tied the game in the 35th minute after Keokuk had taken an early 1-0 lead before Holly Long scored in the 68th and 74th minutes to give Mt. Pleasant the lead. Long now has seven goals on the year.
"Ball control was an important key to winning the game and we really controlled possession in the second half to create our scoring opportunities," said coach Ed Chabal.
Mt. Pleasant took 17 shots against Keokuk, as goal keeper Lauren Hillman recorded five saves.
The Panthers are now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Southeast Conference play. The team travels to Holy Trinity on Tuesday, April 19, for a 5 p.m. varsity only game.
