MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant volleyball program has taken flight over the last three years, rising up to be a top team in the Southeast Conference. In 2022, the Panthers will need to replace some key players if they want to continue that success.
Mt. Pleasant followed a Southeast Conference championship in 2020 with another in 2021, earning the No. 1 seed and losing just one game in the tournament.
The Panthers lose a lot of talent, including SEC Player of the Year Kenna Lamm, who finished last season with 317 kills. Mt. Pleasant also graduated starting setter Ralyn Seberg (454 assists) and starting libero Regan Seberg (472 digs).
Lamm was the only 2022 graduate in the Top-4 in kills. Emma Starr enters her junior year after collecting 108 kills last year, and both Andrea Lopreato (74 kills) and Kate Schimmelpfennig (62 kills) enter their senior years.
Mt. Pleasant’s Top-3 diggers are all gone from last year. Senior Jacara Ivey (167 digs) finished fourth in that category last season. Tristian Shull, another senior, had 96 assists last season to lead the returners.
Mt. Pleasant begun the 2022 season in Muscatine on Monday night. As of press time that game has not been completed.
