Looking ahead: SCC volleyball

The first year in the South Central Conference was a tough one for the Cardinal volleyball team, but the Comets will be back at it this fall in a league that loses a lot of its top talent to graduation.

The Top-2 killers, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont’s Molly Shafer and Knoxville’s Brittany Bacorn are back in 2023, but seven of the Top-10 in kills were lost due to graduation.

Cardinal’s Emily and Megan Ward represent two of six returners from the Top-10 assist list. EBF’s Kate Shafer led the league last year and should return this year.

Three of the Top-10 in digs from last season will return to the league, led by Chariton’s Addie McGee, who finished third in the category last season.

EBF went undefeated in SCC play last year to win the conference title. The Rockets have plenty of talent back this year, making them early favorites.
