The Southeast Conference girls basketball season is right around the corner, with area teams getting ready for scrimmage and jamboree action in the upcoming week and a half.
Before long, the 2025-26 Southeast Conference schedule will be underway, and the six teams in the SEC will once again be in a battle for supremacy.
The three Union area teams have had trouble as of late cracking the ceiling of their three SEC rivals. Burlington, Keokuk and Ft. Madison ran the show last winter, finishing first, second and third respectively.
Washington was the closest competitor to the three leading teams last year, going 4-6 in the conference. Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant each won one game, splitting with each other.
There should be some familiar faces in the league this winter, as the Top-6 scorers are set to return, including Washington’s Adalyn Long, who finished third in the SEC in scoring last season.
Listed below are last year’s conference standings and leading scorers, rebounders and passers, with expected returners listed in italics.
