Last year in Southeast Conference girls cross-country, the league saw three runners stay out in front for the vast majority of the year. This year, those same three should be battling at the top again.
Washington’s Iris Dahl is an early favorite again, along with defending SEC champion Avery Rump of Fort Madison and Hannah Karre of Keokuk, who battled with both all last fall.
Rump and Dahl were standouts at the Class 3A state cross-country meet, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
Fairfield’s Carley Seeley represented well at the state meet, after qualifying for the first time in her career. Seeley was lost to graduation, leaving Fairfield without any returners in the Top-10 in the conference.
Mt. Pleasant didn’t have anybody finish in the Top-10 in the conference in 2023.
Out of the Top-10 runners in the SEC, eight of them can return this season. Along with Seeley, Fort Madison’s Paetyn Wiegand, who finished fourth, was lost to graduation.
Listed below are the results from last year’s SEC meet, with the runners who are eligible to return listed in bold.
