The 2025 Southeast Conference boys basketball season is just a couple of weeks away. Today, we look ahead to the year upcoming, while remembering a fairly wild season from a year ago, in which Ft. Madison stood tall with an 8-2 record.
The Bloodhounds beat out rival Keokuk for the championship last season, finishing one game up to take home the conference title.
Burlington and Washington tied for third place in the league last year. Fairfield was fifth, and was the only team other than Keokuk to hand Ft. Madison a loss, while Mt. Pleasant finished 1-9, with its only league win coming at Washington.
This year will see plenty of new faces emerge, as only two of the Top-10 scorers from last year are due back. Keokuk’s Jaxon Clark led the way last season with 22.7 points per game, and Ft. Madison’s Nolan Guzman was third in the league in scoring with 14.4.
The new year will see Washington, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant try to rise back up the ranks in what has been a topsy-turvy SEC in recent years.
The first conference game of the year for each team is on Dec. 5. Washington will host Keokuk, while Fairfield travels to Ft. Madison and Mt. Pleasant goes to Burlington.
