Lopez, Garvey ranked No. 1 in newest rankings

IAWrestle released its high school wrestling rankings for all classes on Wednesday, and the Union coverage area has a handful of names on the list.

The only area team to hold a ranking is New London, which is No. 7 in Class 1A. The Tigers have three individuals in the Class 1A rankings.

Included in the trifecta of New London wrestlers is Marcel Lopez, who is currently ranked No. 1 at 132 pounds.

Mid-Prairie is the only other area team with multiple names on the list. The Golden Hawks have two, including one top ranked wrestler. Cael Garvey holds the top spot at Class 2A, 195 pounds.

Four area schools have one name on the list. Represented in the rankings are Washington, WACO, Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union and Highland.
