A pair of Union area athletes made the first ever All-Southeast Conference girls wrestling team, which was released by the league last week.
Fairfield freshman Samantha Lyons and Mt. Pleasant sophomore Peyton Mowery were both honored by the SEC.
Lyons, who was also the Trojans’ lone state qualifier this winter, represents Fairfield at the 170-pound weight class on the first team. Lyons went 25-6 this season and picked up three wins at the 2024 state tournament in Iowa City.
Mowery went 1-4 on the year. The first win of her young career came in the form of a major decision at the state qualifying meet. Neither she or any other Panther girl was able to advance to the state tourney.
