Maharishi wins battle of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — A civil war on the tennis courts took place at the Punj tennis center in Fairfield on Thursday as the Maharishi boys team hosted Fairfield High School. The Pioneers were too strong at the top, and Maharishi won 6-3.
Maharishi won the top four singles matches. Romil Patel defeated Blake Holden in the No. 1 match, winning 6-1, 6-1. James Nguyen defeated Jeremy Goodale, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 2 match. Budhil Thijm took down Brecken Courtright, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 match, and No. 4 Polo Atlinski-Ross defeated Garrett Flanagan 4-6, 7-6 (7-5).
Fairfield took the bottom two singles matches. Jace Hannes beat Jayanta Wegman 6-4, 3-6 (10-5).
Maharishi wrapped the win up by sweeping the Top-2 doubles matches. Patel and Thijm defeated Holden and Goodale 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) in the No. 1 match. Altinski-Ross and Nguyen ousted Flanagan and Hannes 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 2 match.
Fairfield won the No. 3 doubles match. Paton and Courtright downed Dupaux and Wegman 6-3, 6-4.
