KEOSAUQUA - Van Buren County is manning up with its girls basketball team. The Warriors haver a very talented player as their point man(ning). Not many individuals will win in a man-to-man (ning) defense against Van Buren County's Isabelle Manning. The point man(ning) for the Warriors this year after the graduation of Taryn Scheuermann, Manning is on a roll to start the season.
Manning posted a triple-double of 39 points, 13 rebounds and 10 steals to push the Warriors to a 50-46 victory over Holy Trinity Catholic Tuesday. The 39 points eclipsed her career high of 37 set just days earlier in a Friday game against Notre Dame. She also surpassed 1,000 career points in that game.
Manning is currently first in the state in points - 154; defensive rebounds - 46; field goal attempts - 133 and field goals made with 61. She is third in rebounds with 59, 13th in free throws made with 22 but 27th in free throws attempted at 28. Teammate Kadence Nausbaum is 11th in steals with 22.
Those stats are where she is among the state leaders, regardless of class, as are the following stats, highlighted by three New London Tigers and two WACO Warriors. Mt. Pleasant, Mid-Prairie and Pekin also have one player among the top 20 in the state in a statistic.
New London's Marah Hartrick is tied for first in 3-pointers made with 16, but third in attempts with 45. She is 14th in points with 90. Teammate Keaura Williams is third in blocks with 16 and tied for fourth in rebounds with 58, fourth in offensive rebounds with 26, 13th in defensive rebounds with 32. Ashlyn McSorley is seventh with 24 assists.
WACO's Morgan Graber is eighth in blocks with 13. Teammate Ellah Kissell is 15th in 3-pointers made with 11 and 10th in attempts at 35.
Pekin's Kerrigan Pope is 17th in offensive rebounds with 21.
Mt. Pleasant's Andrea Lopreato is 20th with 47 total rebounds.
Mid-Prairie's Phelan Hostetler is 15th in blocks with 11.
