Manning named South POY

The Southeast Iowa Super Conference released its All-Conference girls basketball teams on Thursday. Van Buren County led the Union coverage area with six players named to the squad, with junior guard Isabel Manning picking up Player of the Year honors in the South Division. Manning scored 17.4 points per game this season, second on the Warrior squad. She also pulled down 180 rebounds and dished out 76 assists, second on the team in both categories.
Manning was joined on the first team by teammates Taryn Scheuermann and Madison Bartholomew, both seniors. Scheuermann led the team with 20 points per game this season, second best in the South Division, finished third in the South Division with 195 rebounds, and led the entire state in blocked shots, with 142. Bartholomew scored 8.6 points per game and led the team with 112 assists.
Joining the Warrior trio on the first team was New London's Layney Loyd. She scored 13.6 points per game to lead New London, and finished tops in the South Division with 262 rebounds.
The Union area had two first-teamers on the North Division list. Pekin senior Emilee Linder and Winfield-Mt. Union junior Farrah Nelson each made the list.
Linder scored 11.1 points per game this season, second best on the Panther squad. She also finished second on the team with 34 assists. Nelson put up 6.6 points per game for the Wolves, led the squad with 196 rebounds and finished second on the team with 47 steals.
The Union area had nine players make the second-team lists, five in the North Division and four in the South Division.
In the North, Pekin sophomore Kerrigan Pope and junior Sophie Wittrock made the list, as did W-MU sophomore Jobey Malone, Highland senior Alyssa Brase and Hillcrest Academy junior Yani Gutierrez.
On the South side, Cardinal senior Maddie Cloke made second team, as did WACO junior Morgan Graber, Van Buren senior Grace Davidson and New London junior Marah Hartrick.
There were also 16 players named to the two honorable mention lists. The full list of SEISC All-Conference names can be found below.
