Manning, Van Buren clamp down Columbus

KEOSAUQUA - The Van Buren basketball team held Columbus Community to 10 points or less in three out of four quarters on Friday night, and that helped the Warriors to a 66-48 win in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference shootout.
Van Buren led 15-10 after one quarter and 31-20 at halftime. The two teams each went off for 20 points in the third quarter, but Van Buren's defense picked back up in the fourth, allowing only eight points.
Jackson Manning nailed eight 3-pointers to lead the Warriors. Tony Davidson had 15. Lane Davis scored 13. Jonah Heckenberg had eight.
Eric Valdez led the Wildcats with 18 points. Brody Frost had 12 points and four assists. Evan Rees had eight points and nine rebounds. Jaime Villegas scored four points, and the trio of Owen Watson, Anaya Gustavo and Mason Hodges scored two points each.
