FAIRFIELD — Fairfield football has a new head coach.
It’s a familiar face leading the Trojans in 2024-24 as former Fairfield football head man Matt Jones takes over once again.
Jones spent two season at the helm during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Along with those two years, Jones brings 23 years of teaching and coaching experience along with him.
He joined Fairfield Community School District back in 2008 as a middle school physical education teacher and an assistant seventh-grade football coach. He later became defensive coordinator of the varsity team in 2009, helping the Trojans to a state playoff appearance.
Prior to coming to Fairfield, Jones served as head coach of the Twin Cedars varsity football and boys’ track teams. He was also an assistant softball coach and athletic director for the Sabers. Jones helped Twin Cedars to three state football playoff appearances, notching a district championship and state semifinal appearance in 2002.
