McCabe finishes fifth at state meet
Fairfield kindergartener Cael McCabe is already making a name for himself on the wrestling mat.
Cael earned fifth place at the Iowa Grade School and Junior High State Tournament on Dec. 29 in Des Moines.
Cael has now won nine tournaments and his overall record is 28-4. At the state meet he weighed 38 pounds on the scales, but he often wrestles up and has beaten wrestlers who weigh 10 pounds more than him.

Fairfield kindergartener Cael McCabe is already making a name for himself on the wrestling mat.
Cael earned fifth place at the Iowa Grade School and Junior High State Tournament on Dec. 29 in Des Moines.
Cael has now won nine tournaments and his overall record is 28-4. At the state meet he weighed 38 pounds on the scales, but he often wrestles up and has beaten wrestlers who weigh 10 pounds more than him.
His father, Shae McCabe, runs a youth wrestling team called Team Wolverines. Cael?s five teammates are Kenneth Houston, Elijah Simons, Assa McCabe, Carter Stark and Talon Bates.
Cael isn?t done competing for prizes just yet. He will compete at the Iowa Youth Wrestling Super Regionals on Sunday in Washington. If he wins there, he will move on to the Iowa Youth Wrestling Super State Championships on Jan. 25 and 26 in Cedar Rapids. There is also AAU wrestling that will occur in March.
