KALONA — Dominic McCain’s stellar score in a windblown golf meet helped Mid-Prairie win at boys golf Monday. The Golden Hawks beat Wilton 191-198 to win their first River Valley Conference dual meet of the year.
McCain stayed steady in a round with eight pars and a lone bogey to record a score of 1-over-par 37. The meet medalist earned the honor with his short game.
“He was very good,” Mid-Prairie’s coach Kelby Bender said. “He was able to get up and down to save par a few times. The team was able to battle the wind and put together good rounds and help us get the victory.”

“It is great to see the improvement in all of the golfers,” Bender said. “They are working hard and having fun.”
