FAIRFIELD — Fairfield’s Lexie Megrath is ready to dance in college, and now she knows where she’ll be next school year.
The Trojan senior signed her letter of intent last week to attend Mt. Mercy University, where she will join the dance team.
I got a lot of opportunities through my dance studio, and also on the school dance team,“ Megrath said. ”There’s a college combine that you can go to, and it has like every college in Iowa that has a dance team.“
Megrath says Mt. Mercy just felt like the right place to call her new home.
“I felt like I really connected with Coach Lainee (Uitermarkt) said Megrath. ”She was super sweet, and she was just something I was looking for.“
Megrath has danced all around the state with both Fairfield’s dance team, coached by Heidi Bowman, and her dance studio, High Tempurature Dance Academy.
“I’m so blessed that I have so many opportunities, and have so many teachers that are invested in me and my growth,” said Megrath. “Especially Coach Heidi.”
Megrath plans on double majoring in Marketing and Business, and hopes to eventually move back home, with hopes to help the dance community.
