The Men’s and Women’s NCAA Tournament is set after selection Sunday.
The University of Iowa women, the Iowa State men and women, along with the Drake men and women are all in the dance.
The Iowa Hawkeye women hold the highest seed out of the Iowa schools, the No. 1 seed in the Albany 2 Region. That’s their first top seed in the NCAA Tournament since 1992.
Iowa will open its tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m. against the winner of Holy Cross and UT Martin. Those two squads will play at Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
No. 8 seed West Virginia or No. 9 seed Princeton will be the second round opponent.
Meanwhile, the Cyclones of Iowa State are the No. 7 seed in the Portland 4 Region. ISU will take on No. 10 Maryland in the opening round at 6:30 p.m. at Stanford Maples Pavilion in Stanford, California.
The winner will play either No. 2 Stanford or No. 15 Norfolk State.
The Iowa State men have been red hot. After routing No. 1 seeded Houston in the Big 12 Tournament Championship Game the Cyclones get the No. 2 seed in the East Region.
They will take on No. 15 South Dakota State on Thursday at 6:35 p.m in Omaha’s CenturyLink Center. After that it will be either No. 7 Washington State or Iowa’s own No. 10 Drake. The Bulldogs and Cougars will square off on Thursday at 9:05 p.m in Omaha.
The Drake women, like Iowa, are in the Albany 2 Region. The No. 12 seeded Bulldogs will matchup with No. 5 seed Colorado in the opening round. That matchup will take place on Friday at 6 p.m at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas.
No. 4 Kansas State or No. 13 Portland await in the second round.
