In a tight, five-set contest, the Mid-Prairie volleyball team came out on the short end of the stick on Monday night.
The Golden Hawks went to Mediapolis for their first-round regional volleyball match against the Bullettes, and fell in five sets, after claiming a first-set victory.
Mid-Prairie claimed the first set 25-22, before Mediapolis won sets two and three with scores of 25-23 and 25-19, while Mid-Prairie rallied back for a 25-19 fourth-set victory.
In the decisive fifth set, Mid-Prairie fell 15-10, ending the season with a 15-16 record.
In the final match, Mid-Prairie was led by freshman Jaedynn Evans, who posted 15 kills and 27 digs (both team highs) on the night.
Seniors Emily Cayton and Jazmyne Jones were next up on the offensive docket, with them posting 14 and 12 kills respectively, and junior Ali Butters notching 11 kills.
Cayton had 22 digs, while junior Amanda Miller had 19 to help the team defensively.
Junior Clarice Murphy and freshman Sami Miller split the setting duties, with Murphy notching 26 assists and the freshman posting 23 assists.
Mid-Prairie graduates three seniors this season.
