Messinger named SEC POY
Demons, Trojans get 2 first-teamers

The Southeast Conference released its 2025 All-SEC squad last week, and Washington’s Leighton Messinger has defended her spot atop the list.
The reigning SEC Player of the Year earned the spot again in her senior season, the third time the Demon hitter has been named POY in the conference.
Messinger led the Demons with 320 kills, and collected 245 digs to lead her team to first place in the conference’s regular season, and second in the SEC tournament. She is one of two Demons to make the first team, with junior teammate Layla Green joining her on the list.
The Demons had two more players on the second team and two on the honorable mention list, giving Washington six total. Only Burlington matched that number.
Fairfield earned five names including two first-teamers in senior setter Faith Jones and junior hitter Natalie Steele.
Mt. Pleasant had four names on the list, including one first-team honoree in senior hitter Alex Scott. Both the Trojans and Panthers put one player on the second-team list.
