MT. PLEASANT — Both the Mt. Pleasant and Mid-Prairie wrestling teams were at Mt. Pleasant Community High School on Thursday night for a triangular, which also included Fort Madison.
The Bloodhounds were the top team in the triangular, beating Mt. Pleasant 69-3 and Mid-Prairie 69-12.
The Golden Hawks were able to upend the Panthers 42-28 in the third dual of the night. That brought Mid-Prairie to 1-1, and dropped Mt. Pleasant to 0-2 on the night. The Panthers also went 0-1 in Southeast Conference action with the loss to Fort Madison.
“It's been a tough 14 days here, with all the kids being sick,” said Mt. Pleasant head coach Anthony Blint. “We stuck some kids in there, and they really fought hard.”
Mt. Pleasant did go 2-0 in the girls’ matches. Ella McNamee and Alexis Wagner both picked up pins, continuing a common theme for the Panthers, as the girls are off to a hot start.
“They've definitely stepped up this year,” Blint said. “They both have end-of-the-year goals, which is great to have. They just have to keep working, and understand that each time, they need to go out there and separate the gap.”
