Mid-Prairie 1st, Washington 8th at Golden Hawk relays
Golden Hawks tie Mediapolis for team championship

WELLMAN — Mid-Prairie held off a tough field in the Golden Hawks’ home relays on Tuesday. Four victories led Mid-Prairie to a tie for first place overall, scoring 85 points.
The Golden Hawks split the title with Mediapolis. Williamsburg was right on their tails with 82 points.
Washington was the only other Union area team at Mid-Prairie’s home meet. The Demons took eighth, scoring 34 points.
The Golden Hawks’ best result came in the discus throw, where they were able to go one-two on the day. Carter Harmsen led the way, hurling it 137 feet, 2 inches. Burke Berry took silver with a throw of 126 feet, 8 inches.
Thaddeus Shetler took home the 1600-meter run, finishing in 4:41.62 for another Golden Hawk individual victory. Mid-Prairie’s shuttle hurdle team scooped up a win as well, crossing the tape in 1:04.89.
In the 100-meter wheelchair race, Jayden Stafford flew to the finish line in 19.21 seconds, giving Mid-Prairie another victory.
The Golden Hawks’ only second place finish came in the relays, as the spring medley team took second, in 1:38.10.
Washington’s only winner on the day came in the throws. Brayden Hartman threw the shot put 47 feet, 8.5 inches.
The Demons had one second-place finisher. Jacob Miller took silver in the 100-meter dash, crossing in 11.33.
