Mid-Prairie advances

TIPTON - Mid-Prairie has a 2-11 record after Wednesday's win, but more importantly, the Golden Hawks are 1-0 in the postseason.
Mid-Prairie defeated Tipton on the Tigers' own field 9-4 in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal. Tipton had defeated the Golden Hawks 2-1 June 18 in the second game of the season.
Tipton's season is over with a 4-12 record. Mid-Prairie advances to play Davenport Assumption, ranked second with a 16-5 record, tonight at Assumption.
The Golden Hawks put two runs on the board right away, scoring in the top of the first inning. Mid-Prairie added four more runs in the fifth inning, but Tipton responded with three in the bottom of the inning. It was still 6-3 until Mid-Prairie plated some insurance runs with three scores in the top of the seventh inning. The home team scored once in the bottom of the seventh.
