IOWA CITY ? After battling a weather related postponement, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks pulled out a win over West Burlington Wednesday, July 12, by a 6-2 final score.
The first portion of the game started Tuesday, July 11, where both teams were scoreless through the first three innings of the contest.
Mid-Prairie pulled ahead in the top of the fourth by scoring two runs. In the bottom half, West Burlington put a runner on first base, but severe weather came through the area, causing a delay, which led to the postponement of the game until the next day.
The game picked up where it left off Wednesday night, which didn?t hurt the final outcome as West Burlington tied the game in the remaining portion of the fourth.
In the sixth inning, Mid-Prairie pulled ahead as four runs scored, giving them a 6-2 lead. They held West Burlington back the remainder of the game to ensure the victory.
Mid-Prairie has a 16-14 record and will face Regina in Iowa City Saturday, July 15, starting at 7 p.m. in the district finals game.
