Mid-Prairie boys basketball didn’t go down quietly in its final game of the 2025-26 season. It mounted a comeback effort after falling behind in its Class 2A-5 District 10 championship game against Northeast. But the Golden Hawks fell short of fully turning the game around and the Rebels were able to see out a 75-66 home victory Tuesday night.
The Golden Hawks closed the gap as low as three points after a big third quarter nearly erased a 35-23 halftime deficit. Mid-Prairie won the period 23-16 and was down 59-56 with just under four minutes to play.
But Northeast refused to let its lead slip away at home. The Rebels scored 24 points in the fourth quarter, including 16 in the final four minutes. The Golden Hawks scored just 10 points in that span.
Brooks Weber had a strong outing despite the loss and led Mid-Prairie with 29 points. The junior added three rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Bryce Henry and Hudson Ehrenfelt finished in double figures in their final games for Mid-Prairie. The seniors tallied 12 points each. Ehrenfelt added seven rebounds.
Mid-Prairie ends its season at 16-7, including a 10-4 mark in the River Valley North to earn second place. The Golden Hawks had a nearly identical postseason campaign to 2024-25 with a win over Mediapolis in the 2A-5 first round before a loss in the district championship game.
Six seniors will depart the Mid-Prairie program, including Henry, the teams leading scorer at 17.4 points per game and Ehrenfelt (8.0 points per game). Clayton Davidson, Kaden Kos, Jordan Traetow and Cyris Christner also wrapped up their final game in a Mid-Prairie uniform.
Mid-Prairie is able to retain a crop of talented juniors, including Brooks Weber and Carson Humphrey, who both logged over 20 starts this season. Weber was second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game, and led Mid-Prairie in assists (3.5) and steals (2.5). Humphrey averaged 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 22 starts.
Fellow juniors Kale Miller (6.2 points per game) and Tristan Koller (5.3) are also eligible to return, along with Bo Pennington and Andrew Rath. Sophomores Ryan Henry and Kendrick Kos can also come back after both players combined for 24 appearances this season.
