The Golden Hawks came away with a runner-up finish at Wapello, Friday, May 12, with a final score of 343.
A solid Central Lee team was the champion, after shooting a 322.
?Going in, we knew Central Lee would be the favorite and then it would be a battle with three other teams for the runner-up spot and a chance to advance to the District meet,? said coach Kelby Bender.
?It was tight after nine holes and our golfers played the last nine well. They did a great job a managing the tight back nine of Heritage Oaks and played well.
Freshman Noah Schlabaugh led the Golden Hawks and tied for medalist runner-up with a personal best 79.
His great round consisted of 11 pars and seven bogeys.
Duncan McCain played a nice round with an 82 that tied him for fifth individually.
Duncan played well enough to shoot in the 70s as he made 10 pars but had two double bogeys.
Collin Gingerich also had a consitent day shooting an 88, his low 18-hole score for the year.
That was good enough to tie him for 11th individually.
Ryan Slaubaugh and Michael Callahan both shot 94.
The Golden Hawks advance to District play at Gates Park in Waterloo Friday, May 19, at 10 a.m.
