Mid-Prairie boys golf team finishes second at Washington
?It was a nice sunny afternoon for a golf meet,? said Mid-Prairie boys coach Kelby Bender about the Golden Hawks taking part in a triangular Tuesday, April 11.

?It was a nice sunny afternoon for a golf meet,? said Mid-Prairie boys coach Kelby Bender about the Golden Hawks taking part in a triangular Tuesday, April 11.
?Missing two varsity golfers the night before at Tipton, Mid-Prairie got one of the players back and shot five strokes lower.
It was enough to beat Columbus but not enough against a very good 3A Washington team on their home course.?
The Golden Hawks were led by senior Duncan McCain who shot a steady round of 44.
Freshman Noah Schlabaugh was close behind with a 45. His round was highlighted by a chip in birdie 3 on the 260-yard par 4 6th hole.
?It was nice round for Noah after missing the day before because of an illness,? Bender said.
?Junior Michael Callahan is starting to play more consistently and shot his second 49 in a row. We have been getting two or three good scores. We need to consistently get a good fourth score posted.
?We knew Washington was very good and a 3A team, so we just wanted to play our game and see where we stacked up.
?I thought we played well to the greens. The greens were faster today than we were used to and we didn't adjust that well.
?We had too many three-putts today or we could have scored even better.
?It is still early, so that is something we need to go back and practice. We will do our work around and on the greens and we will get better.?
Mid-Prairie next plays Tuesday, April 18, in Durant.
