The Mid-Prairie boys golf team placed sixth out of 11 teams at a very competitive 18-hole tournament Tuesday, April 25.
?I was pleased with the overall result,? said coach Kelby Bender.
?We shot our low 18-team score of the season and were only six strokes behind third.?
Noah Schlabaugh led the Golden Hawks. He has been playing really steady and did so again. He shot 43, 43 for an 86 which tied him for 10th place individually.
Ryan Slaubaugh bounced back after struggling the last couple of meets and posted a 43, 46 for an 89.
Michael Callahan was next for Mid-Prairie with a pair of 47s for 94.
?With our next three guys struggling on the front nine we needed one of them to fight back and post a good score on the back nine,? Bender said.
?Collin Gingerich did that and posted our lowest nine-hole score of the day. He shot 51 on the front and 42 on the back for a 93.
?I was proud of the effort. After nine holes it looked like we might have a tough time cracking the top half.
?They didn't let the struggles bother them. They kept after it and found a way to get around the course and post a good score.?
