CHARITON — The Mid-Prairie softball team didn’t get any favors from their Class 3A Regoin 4 quarterfinal draw. The Golden Hawks traveled over two hours for a first round game at Chariton, one that would go the way of the hosting Chargers.
Mid-Prairie struggled to get the offense going in a 13-1 four-inning loss, which ended the Golden Hawks’ season.
Chariton scored the first three runs in the game. Landra Pacha hit a sacrifice fly to cut the Chargers’ advantage to 3-1 in the top of the third, but the Chargers would score the next 10 runs.
Chariton put up one run in the bottom of the third and nine in the fourth to end the game three innings early.
Mid-Prairie’s Molly Yoder had a triple and a run scored to lead the Golden Hawks in the loss.
Mid-Prairie finished its season at 16-13. It was the Golden Hawks’ first winning season since 2015.
