Mid-Prairie finishes 6th at River Valley tournament
Garvey lone winner for Golden Hawk grapplers

MONTICELLO — Cael Garvey topped the 195-podium at the River Valley Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday, the only Golden Hawk to finish first in his bracket.
Garvey led the Golden Hawks to a sixth-place finish overall. Mid-Prairie scored 80.5 points in a meet that was won by Wilton (177.5 points).
Garvey only had to wrestle for three minutes to earn his title. He went 2-0 with a pair of pins.
Garvey’s first pin came against Aiden Hewitt of Wilton. Garvey planted Hewitt in just 17 seconds.
Garvey pinned Jahsiah Galvan of West Liberty in the final. He finished that match off in 2:43.
Mid-Prairie also had three third-place finishers. Mose Yoder took third place at 113 pounds, topping Tipton’s Maxson Fogg on a 51 second pin in the third place match. Kaden Meader won the 170-pound third place match 5-0 against Monticello’s AJ Phelps, and Gannon Callahan pinned Wilton’s Alexander Kaufmann in 1:58 to finish third at 285.
