Mid-Prairie football victorious on Senior Night

WELLMAN — It was 28-7 by halftime of Senior Night at Mid-Prairie. Led by seniors Will Cavanagh and Jackson Pennington in the aerial game and Tyler Helmuth on the ground, the Golden Hawk football team went on to a 42-21 victory over Class 2A District 6 foe Centerville.
Pennington caught seven passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Cavanagh was 11-for-20 for 116 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Grady Gingerich.
Helmuth had three touchdowns on his 10 carries, racking up 107 yards. Braden Hartley rushed 15 times for 129 yards and one touchdown.
Helmuth and Hartley each snagged an interception off the Big Red.
The Hawks have a 4-3 overall record, 3-1 district and play at Davis County (4-3, 3-1) for the season finale. Centerville is 3-4, 1-3.
