Mid-Prairie girls advance in post-season action

All the Mid-Prairie girls basketball team had to do in order to advance in the post season was win over West Burlington and they did just that Saturday, Feb. 11.

It was clear from the beginning who would get the victory as M-P would pull ahead after the first quarter 11-6.

They scored another eight in the second quarter to West Burlington?s six to have a 19-12 lead at the half.

After the break, it was all Mid-Prairie was they would score 22 points in the third quarter to West Burlington?s eight.

They would add another 26 in the fourth while only giving up 11 to their opponents to get the 67-31 victory.

Addie Rath led the team in scoring with 18 points along with two rebounds, two assists and seven steals.

Delaney Smith set a personal best in successful 3-point shots making five for a total of 15 points. She also had one rebound and two steals in the game.

Ireland Hostetler scored 10 points and had a double-double with 11 rebounds, three assists and four blocks.

Anna Vilovchik scored nine points, had one rebound, one assist and two steals.

Ali Butters also had nine points, had two rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Rounding out the scoring for Mid-Prairie was Shae Becker with four points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.

Lanie Bowlin scored two points while having one rebound in the game.

Mid-Prairie?s record now stands at 16-6 and they will face Central Lee (19-3) at home Wednesday, Feb. 15, beginning at 7 p.m.
