Mid-Prairie girls fall to Tipton on Monday

The Mid-Prairie girls? golf team fell just short of a team victory on Monday afternoon.

The Hawks hosted Tipton at the Kalona Golf Course on Monday afternoon, and despite having the meet medalist, they fell by 10 strokes to the Tigers.

Junior Allyson Wertz had a nine-hole score of 44 on the day, earning first-place out of the individual competitors at the meet.

?The girls are so close to putting themselves in position to win, we just haven?t all quite clicked at the same time yet,? Mid-Prairie girls? golf head coach Tracy McArtor said. ?Allyson has had two good meets in a row with meet medalist honors both (Monday) and at the Tiger Invite in Marengo last Friday where she posted a 43.?

Lindsey Palmer had a 54 for the Hawks, while Cassidy Bender added a 55, Paige Slabaugh carded a 65 and Olivia Nisly put together a round of 66 during Monday?s meet.

?Lindsey Palmer had a great comeback after having an off night at Iowa Valley and posting at 71, turned things around at home tonight cutting 17 strokes off her score,? McArtor said. ?Cassidy had one of her better nights for the year and (we) need her to continue that trend as we work toward conference meet next week.?

The Hawks started their Wednesday meet in Riverside and got through about four holes before they had to be pulled off the course due to stormy conditions.

The next meet for Mid-Prairie will be on Monday when the team travels to West Branch and will play at Fox Run Golf Course.
