WAPELLO — The Golden Hawk girls golf team placed second at a Class 2A regional held at a saturated Heritage Oaks golf course Monday during a steady rain.
The Golden Hawks will play Monday at West Liberty.
Madelyn Bender lead the team with a score of 109 and was 10th overall. Madi Davidson had a 111 and Alexa Huber 116. Gabi Robertson clinched the scoring at 120.
"We had a couple big numbers on a few holes, but the kids backed those up with a few more good ones to even things out a bit,“ Mid-Prairie coach Tracy McArtor said. ”After the turn, I had a feeling that we were probably in the hunt and just reinforced with the girls to stay calm.“
Annabell Cormier had a 127 and Bailey Page a 128 for Van Buren County. Zoe Best shot 135 and Georgia Padget 136.
