Mid-Prairie girls hand out awards
The Mid-Prairie girls? basketball team held their end-of-the-year banquet and recognized a number of athletes for their work this season.
Earning the Most Valuable Player award, as voted on by the players, was junior Alex Rath, who led the team in steals with 48, finished second on the team in assists with 34, while averaging 7.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

The Mid-Prairie girls? basketball team held their end-of-the-year banquet and recognized a number of athletes for their work this season.
Earning the Most Valuable Player award, as voted on by the players, was junior Alex Rath, who led the team in steals with 48, finished second on the team in assists with 34, while averaging 7.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
The top offensive player was senior Ali Riggan, who finished second on the team with 7.6 points per game. She also led the team with 39 3-pointers, hitting them at a clip of 33.6 percent.
Lexi Duwa was named the top defensive player by her peers, while Breanna Riggan earned the Most Inspirational award.
Ten Golden Hawks were named to the Academic All-Conference team, while 15 girls earned a varsity letter this season.
Senior Taylor Kurtz was named to the Elite All-Conference team for the River Valley Conference, while Ali Riggan and Rath earned first-team honors in the South Division. Addison Rath was named honorable mention.
Kurtz, Ali Riggan and Duwa will be taking part in the River Valley Conference senior All Star game in Tipton on March 22, with Mid-Prairie head coach Stephen Bender being one of the coaches involved. Kurtz and Ali Riggan will also take part in the IBCA All-Star game held in Dallas Center Grimes on March 28. They are two of 40 seniors (regardless of class) to be selected to play in the event.
