Mid-Prairie girls win Pella meet

PELLA — The Mid-Prairie girls won the Pella Dutch Invitational Saturday on the Central College cross-country course behind Danielle Hostetler’s first-place finish.

Mt. Pleasant and Columbus also competed. Abby Blint took fifth for the Panthers, whose girls placed fifth as a team.

Mid-Prairie, ranked sixth in Class 2A, placed fifth overall in the boys race behind Thaddeus Shetler’s eighth-place run.

The meet was run as two races by gender but later divided up into small school and big school finishes. The Golden Hawks were second among the small schools and Columbus fifth. The Wildcats are ranked at No. 14 in Class 1A. Columbus was 10th overall behind ninth-place Mt. Pleasant.

Mt. Pleasant runs Thursday at Waterworks Park in Fairfield. Mid-Prairie runs next at Monticello Saturday. The Wildcats next run at a meet at Sigourney Tuesday.
