The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks faced an opponent Friday night that they know well, their own teammates.
Unable to find an opponent for the scrimmage with this season's scrambled football schedule due to limitations imposed by the state athletic association because of COVID-19 precautions, the Golden Hawks held a glorified practice for the scrimmage.
Coaches worked with offense and defense skill players while their teammates ran drills at the opposite end of the field.
The scrimmage included referees who started the evening going over the special rules and other changes in place for this season.
The Golden Hawks will face a real opponent on Friday night when they open the season at home against Sigourney-Keota at 7 p.m.
Sigourney-Keota was 8-1 last season while Mid-Prairie was 6-3.
