Mid-Prairie loses 2 to No. 7 West Liberty softball

KALONA — Mid-Prairie’s softball team faced the seventh-ranked team in Class 3A and lost two games Monday to the visitors from West Liberty.
In an 8-5 defeat, Mid-Prairie rallied from an early 6-0 deficit behind a 3-for-4 performance from Dakota Mitchell. Brenna Jehle and Katelyn Schneider each hit a double.
Myah Lugar took the loss.
The second game was much closer even though it ended with a 12-4 score.
Scoreless through three innings, the visitors led 4-2 at the end of four, but an eight run fifth inning salted the game away.
Jehle had three hits and teammates Hannah Sellers, Cana Rediger and Dawsyn Miller connected on two hits apiece.
