Mid-Prairie moves on with shutout of Wilton
Golden Hawks put 10 on Beavers in 2A District 9 semifinal

WELLMAN — The No. 2 Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team had no problem in it Class 2A District 9 tournament opener against Wilton on Wednesday night.
Mid-Prairie defeated the Beavers 10-0 in five innings. It’s the fourth victory over Wilton on the season for the Golden Hawks.
It was an efficient night of baseball as Golden Hawk’s ace Collin Miller dialed in on the hill with a strong defense behind him and at the plate Mid-Prairie scored a run in every inning.
It didn’t take them long to get going.
Brady Weber gave the Golden Hawks the lead with an RBI single to scored Alex Bean and they would never lose the advantage.
Two more crossed home in the second as Bean hit a two out two RBI single to score Cain Brown and Miller to make it a 3-0 game.
In the third, Camron Pickard was walked with the bases loaded to plate Gentry Bontrager and Brown hit a sacrifice fly to score Joe Hall pushing the lead to 5-0.
Mid-Prairie’s biggest inning of the night came in the fourth.
Seven Golden Hawk batters came to the plate in the inning and that transpired into four runs capped off with a two RBI triple by Joe Hall, who scored himself on the play on a throwing error to make it 9-0.
Mid-Prairie sealed it in the fifth after Dylan Henry scored Karson Grout on a base hit.
For the Golden Hawks, Brady Weber went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Dylan Henry and Brock Harland both had two hits with one RBI each.
Alex Bean and Joe Hall each finished with a hit and two RBIs.
Cain Brown, Karson Grout and Collin Miller all had one hit with Brown picking up one RBI. Camron Pickard finished with an RBIs as well.
Collin Miller threw a complete game allowing just two hits with seven strikeouts.
Mid-Prairie advances to the Class 2 District 9 title game against Durant on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Wellman. The Golden Hawks swept Durant in three games this season.
