MONTICELLO — Danielle Hostetler, Sydney Yoder and Jaden Yoder finished first, second and third Tuesday at the River Valley Conference cross-country championship.
Those three scores alone might have won the title but Mitzi Evans and Abby Fleming took fifth and sixth place to give Mid-Prairie a near perfect runaway win in the girls race. For good measure, Phoebe Shetler finished ninth.
The Golden Hawk boys took second place with Thaddeus Shetler finishing fifth.
“To the best of my knowledge, the girls score of 17 is a conference record,” Mid-Prairie assistant coach Aaron fleming said. “Chandler Herschberger and Nathan Wallington moved up from where they've been the last couple of weeks, and that improvement will be necessary to move past the state qualifier next Thursday.”
Mid-Prairie runs at Williamsburg Oct. 21.
