Mid-Prairie outscores Washington in girls soccer Thursday
Washington defeats Columbus Friday

WELLMAN — The Mid-Prairie girls won a soccer match Thursday against the visiting Demons, 3-2. It was the third straight win for Mid-Prairie.
Kaitlin Martin had an assist on one of Golden Hawk teammate Julia Boller’s two goals and Martin kicked in a score herself. Paytin Swartzentruber had an assist for Mid-Prairie. Emily Swartzentruber made eight saves.
Trina Griffin and Greta Rothe each scored for the Demons. Elyse Hunt and Alex Murphy combined for seven saves. Washington is 7-7 and plays at Marion (10-4) in a Class 2A Region 7 matchup.
The Golden Hawks have a 10-5 record and play Wednesday when Columbus (7-4) visits for a Class 1A Region 8 quarterfinal. Columbus lost Friday at Washington 8-1. Juvixa Valdez scored the lone goal, her 15th of the season.
