WELLMAN - The coronavirus has affected almost every school's sports in some way this season.
The high school volleyball match scheduled at Iowa City Regina for Tuesday has been rescheduled to Monday, October 12th.
Mid-Prairie canceled a football game in the second week of the season because of concerns over the spread of the pathogen.
Now, Friday's opponent, Davis County, has canceled for similar reasons.
For athletic director Tyler Hotz, keeping abreast of the ever-changing sports schedule is something he has managed well. The AD lined up another game for the Golden Hawks very quickly and they will travel to Belle Plaine, which has a 4-1 record. Mid-Prairie is 2-2 and a Class 2A school. Belle Plaine is Class A.
'When we were notified Davis County will be unable to play, I contacted the state athletic union and they gave me a list of schools that may be looking,” Hotz said. 'I made contact with Belle Plaine and we agreed to play.”
