WEST LIBERTY — The first round of the Class 3A postseason meant the end for the Golden Hawks softball year. A lone run in the fifth inning wasn’t enough for Mid-Prairie in a 10-1 loss to the No. 8 West Liberty Comets.
Hannah Sellers leadoff double in the fourth inning was a response to the Comets four runs in the bottom of the third for a 6-0 lead. Landry Pacha hit a single that scored the only Mid-Prairie run.
The Comets advance with a 21-7 record. The Golden Hawks season ends at 10-30, the first double-digit win total since 2017.
