The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association released its new rankings for all classes on Monday. Mid-Prairie continues to be the only Union area team in the polls.
The Golden Hawks come in at No. 2 in Class 2A, taking up that spot for the second week in a row.
Mid-Prairie, a former No. 1 in the poll, rebounded from a rough stretch last week by going 2-1 in a three-game series against Iowa City Regina, which ended on Thursday, and blasting Treynor 16-2 on Saturday.
The Golden Hawks currently sit 15-6 overall. Going into key doubleheader against West Liberty on Monday night, Mid-Prairie held a 15-6 overall record and a 10-1 mark in River Valley South play. Those games finished after press time Monday.
This week’s No. 1 teams includes Newman Catholic in Class 1A, Van Meter in Class 2A, Western Dubuque in Class 3A, and Ankeny Centennial in Class 4A.
