Mid-Prairie has been playing some stellar volleyball as of late.
The No. 9 (Class 3A) Golden Hawks showed out once again over the weekend at the South Tama Tournament. Mid-Prairie took another tournament title, winning five straight matches without giving up a single set.
With the five victories, the Golden Hawks win streak is up to eight. The Golden Hawks have lost just three matches on the season.
Those came against No. 1 (Class 5A) Dowling Catholic, No. 15 (Class 2A) West Burlington and West Branch.
On Saturday, Mid-Prairie picked up wins over South Tama, Waterloo East, Grinnell, Belle Plaine and Lisbon all in two sets.
The Golden Hawks took down host South Tama 21-14 in the opening set and just edged the Trojans in the second 26-24.
In the second match of the day against Waterloo East, Mid-Prairie dominated 21-12 and 21-10 in the two sets.
The same held true against Grinnell.
Mid-Prairie topped the Tigers 2-0 after a 21-6 set one victory and a 21-15 win.
Against Belle Plaine, the Golden Hawks put together another fantastic performance, downing the Plainsmen 21-8 and 21-12.
In their final match of the day, Mid-Prairie took care of business against Lisbon 21-14 and 21-19 to seal the tournament victory.
With the handful of wins, Mid-Prairie moves to 19-3 on the season.
The Golden Hawks will take on Tipton (14-10) in their lone match this week. Mid-Prairie will look to make it nine straight.
The Tigers come in on a two game win streak themselves.
Mid-Prairie has won the last five meets, but Tipton owns the historical matchups 18-7.
The two’s game is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
